GM has some new and exciting models set to hit showrooms later this year.  The Chevy Volt and the Itasca Chevy Cruze are already getting a lot of buzz amongst auto experts and enthusiasts!  GM is pulling out the stops to get America excited about the new Chevy Volt and their advertising tactics are pretty smart!

As we all know, video games are at the forefront of entertainment for many of America’s youth and beyond.  The Volt will be an unlockable car in the video game, Joy Ride, which will use a cool new technology.  It’ll be the first to take advantage of Microsoft’s Kinetic control system.  What it does is allow the child or adult to serve as the game’s controller instead of using a button control or joystick.  Players will also be able to customize their Volt online, then drag it to the game to participate against other players.  Pretty cool concept!

The goal of  putting the Volt in Joy Ride is to make the car appealing to younger drivers and to those that will be driving in the next few years.  Not a bad idea, as a new car is more of a coveted thing for a 16 year old driver than say a used truck Chicago might be?!?  Also, the  Chevy Volt is going to be featured in cell phones that are powered by Microsoft Windows.

The 2011 Volt is due to arrive at your Itasca Chevy Cruze dealer this fall and will be the most fuel efficient car to hit the roads.  It can travel up to 40 miles on battery power alone, after that the gasoline engine powers the car for about another 300 miles.  The Volt is a perfect option for someone who has a 40 mile or under round trip commute each day.  If you travel that distance to and from work, you’ll never end up using the gas powered engine/generator that day.  This saves you a lot of cash on filling up at the pump!  It’ll make more room for the used truck Chicago models that thrive on gas to power its trips!

The Chevy Volt has been long awaited since the concept came into the media back in 2008.  I hope we see a lot of them on roadways when they go on sale this fall!
